You need a CRM - for your personal life

Now that you're done groaning at the sound of "CRM", hear me out -

There is a reason the most successful sales teams in any industry have an effective CRM - it is a "second brain" that captures important notes, details, and context about the people you interact with.

As a busy mom, I cannot afford the brainpower to remember what my second cousin told me about her new job two months ago. After all, I have humans that I am literally trying to keep alive. But, I would LOVE to be that person that remembers the finer details so that I can maintain more fulfilling relationships.

In comes the CRM.

Here's exactly what I did:

1. I started a Notion account, but you can really use any spreadsheet or notes app that you desire. Keep it simple and fool proof

2. I made a list of the people I interact with the most. For me, I started with the people I send our annual Christmas Card to.

3. I list out all of the important details: mailing address, birthdays, anniversaries, kids names, last known occupation. Pro-tip: in Notion I was able to add a column with a timestamp of anytime I updated something so I know how recent my information was.

4. Anytime I have a conversation with that person, I make a note of it

5. Now I'm able to have full context about someone before I know I'm meeting them for lunch. I can set reminders for upcoming birthdays and special events. And I can easily identify who I need to reach out to for a long overdue catch up.

This might feel like cheating to some, but it makes me feel better knowing I can be more present with the people that matter most to me. 10/10 recommend.

A Quick Note

Next time you're about to get upset that your kiddo spilled their lunch all over, just remember it could have been worse

Stay fabulous, avoid the laundry.
